CARMEL, Ind. – Jeremy Michael Kashman, 44, Carmel’s Chief Infrastructure Officer, faces two counts of domestic battery involving an adult and a juvenile, stunning the Hamilton County community. Kashman, recently promoted on June 18, 2024, per a City of Carmel bulletin, allegedly committed the acts detailed in court documents, though victim identities remain confidential.
The charges sparked outrage on social media. X user @maddieroet wrote, “not in perfect Carmel!!!! 🙄,” while @psptvs stated, “lock em up/throw away the key.” @visualsbyjack on Instagram, who recently moved to Carmel, added, "While awful this won't hurt property values in paradise...." In Indiana, domestic battery convictions can lead to 2.5 years in prison and $10,000 fines, per Keffer Hirschauer LLP, especially when a child is involved.
A 2023 Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence study notes 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men in Indiana face domestic violence, showing its prevalence even in affluent areas like Carmel. The ICADV offers support at icadvinc.org.
Kashman’s future in his role is uncertain, and the Mayor’s office has not commented. Hoosier Enquirer will provide updates as the case unfolds.
