IU Conquers the Big House: First Win at Michigan Since 1967 in a Gritty Overtime Battle

Indiana 13, Michigan 6 (OT)

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — It wasn't pretty, but it was historic. No. 6 Indiana defeated Michigan 13-6 in overtime Saturday, winning at the legendary Big House for the first time since 1967 and ending 59 years of frustration on the Wolverines' home turf.

Before 111,276 fans, Indiana quarterback Josh Hoover overcame a difficult afternoon to deliver when it mattered most, connecting with Brock Schott for 21 yards before scrambling four yards for the game's only touchdown. Indiana's defense then slammed the door, denying Michigan a chance to answer.

Coach Curt Cignetti described the victory as "gritty as hell," and that was putting it mildly. Indiana managed just 212 yards of offense but held Michigan to 224, proving that championship-caliber teams sometimes have to win ugly.

The Hoosiers improved to 7-1, rebounding from their loss to Ohio State and keeping their Big Ten championship ambitions alive. Michigan fell to 4-3.

The Hoosiers didn't just beat Michigan. They conquered 59 years of history in one gritty afternoon.
