ree

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers were involved in a shooting Thursday afternoon on the city’s west side.

The incident began around 3:35 p.m yesterday. when officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Kiel Avenue, just north of Washington Street inside the I-465 loop, after reports of shots being fired. Shortly thereafter, an officer-involved shooting occurred on the nearby 1000 block of Waldemere Avenue.

At approximately 3:50 p.m., Indy EMS crews responded to the same area on Waldemere Avenue for a reported gunshot wound. The condition of the individual involved has not been disclosed.

IMPD confirmed via social media around 4 p.m. that no officers were injured during the incident. However, the department has not released further details, including what led to the shooting, the identity of those involved, or the current status of the investigation.

The Hoosier Enquirer reached out to IMPD for additional information but has not received a response at this time.
