Bobby Kern Announces Run for Center Township Constable in Special Caucus

ree

Indianapolis native and well-known criminal paralegal, Hoosier Enquirer’s journalist and Senior Democratic Strategist Bobby Kern has announced his candidacy to run in the upcoming Special Caucus election to fill the vacant position of Center Township Constable. This seat was left vacant after former Constable Denise Paul Hatch was ousted from office following a plea deal involving felony charges. Indiana law prohibits individuals with felony convictions from holding public office, necessitating a new election to fill the role.

Kern, who served as the spokesperson for the former constable, has deep roots in the Indianapolis legal community, particularly in criminal law. His experience as a paralegal and close involvement with Hatch’s tenure as Constable make him a formidable candidate in this Special Caucus. Known for his dedication to advocating for the rights of the accused and his extensive knowledge of the legal system, Kern aims to bring his expertise and community connection to the role.

The Democratic Party of Center Township is required by Indiana law to hold a Special Caucus within 30 days to fill any vacancy in office. The precinct committee members of the Democratic Party in Center Township will cast their votes in this upcoming Special Election, determining who will step into the role of constable for the township.

Kern's candidacy offers the opportunity for continuity following Hatch’s departure, given his familiarity with her administration. As the race unfolds, it remains to be seen who else will throw their hat in the ring and how Kern's legal expertise will resonate with local Democrats as they prepare to elect a new leader for Center Township.
