Record Early Voting Turnout in Indiana as Over 1 Million Hoosiers Cast Ballots Ahead of General Election

ree

Indianapolis, IN — In a remarkable display of civic engagement, over one million Hoosiers have already cast their ballots ahead of Indiana’s upcoming general election, according to an announcement from Secretary of State Diego Morales on Thursday. This number, combining both absentee mail ballots and early in-person voting, is a testament to the proactive involvement of Indiana’s voters this year.

Secretary Morales highlighted the significance of this turnout, stating that it underscores “our state’s dedication to the principles of civic engagement and active involvement.” He went on to encourage those who haven’t yet participated to make a plan to head to the polls on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5.

With Election Day just around the corner, Morales provided a few important reminders for voters. All Indiana residents must bring a valid ID with them to the polls. Additionally, absentee ballots sent by mail must be received at county election offices by 6 p.m. on Tuesday to be counted.

The Secretary of State’s office has also introduced a convenient text service for voters seeking information or assistance. Voters with questions or concerns can text “IN” to 45995 for real-time updates and guidance on election matters.

This historic early voting turnout could signal a high level of interest and participation across various races on the ballot, with Hoosiers from both sides of the aisle eager to make their voices heard.
