Indianapolis Lawyer Abdul Hakim Shabazz Throws A Tantrum Over Criminal Complaint Filed In Marion County Superior Court

Indianapolis disgraced attorney Abdul Hakim Shabazz finds himself embroiled in controversy after being hit with a criminal complaint in the Marion County Superior Court alleging he collaborated with Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears to orchestrate the arrest of Gabriel “Honest Gabe” Whitley. The complaint claims the arrest was politically motivated and intended to prevent Whitley from attending a court hearing in a defamation lawsuit filed against him.

The conflict stems from a tweet Whitley posted, stating that “National Law Enforcement needs to raid Abdul’s house for stealing money from the Marion County Fairgrounds Board and shoot him like a pig.” While inflammatory, a constitutional lawyer has confirmed the statement does not constitute a legal threat, emphasizing that calling for government action is protected speech under the First Amendment.

Whitley, a vocal critic of Mears and Shabazz, has consistently alleged that Shabazz abused his personal connection with the prosecutor to settle personal scores. His legal team has pointed to this case as an example of political persecution, with Whitley filing a separate lawsuit against Mears for allegedly violating his constitutional rights.

Constitutional Lawyer Criticizes Shabazz

A prominent constitutional lawyer weighed in, condemning Shabazz’s behavior and advising him to reconsider his legal strategy before facing potential disbarment. “Saying a government entity should take action is not a crime,” the lawyer noted. “Shabazz’s attempts to manipulate the legal system could land him in deeper trouble, both criminally and professionally.”

Shabazz’s law license is already under scrutiny, with seven grievance complaints filed against him. These complaints, coupled with Whitley’s lawsuit against the Indiana Disciplinary Commission for allegedly protecting Shabazz, paint a troubling picture of systemic issues within the state’s legal oversight.

Former Lawyer Alleges Collusion

Adding fuel to the fire, Whitley’s former attorney has confirmed that Shabazz abused his friendship with Mears to target Whitley, a move that could have far-reaching consequences. “Mears is now liable for damages,” the attorney stated, suggesting that the lawsuit could mark the end of Mears’ political career.

Whitley has been steadfast in his claims that his arrest was orchestrated to silence his voice as a journalist and a critic of Marion County’s judicial system. His lawsuit against Mears and the disciplinary commission seeks to expose what he calls a “corrupt alliance” between Shabazz and county officials.

Public Outcry and Legal Ramifications

The case has sparked public outcry, with many calling for an independent investigation into the relationship between Shabazz and Mears. Critics argue that Shabazz’s use of the legal system to suppress dissent undermines public trust in Marion County’s judicial system.

Meanwhile, Whitley continues to fight back, using his platform as a journalist to shed light on what he sees as the abuse of power in Indianapolis politics. If successful, his lawsuits could not only bring justice but also dismantle what he calls a “culture of corruption” in Marion County’s legal system.

This unfolding saga serves as a stark reminder of the need for accountability within Indiana’s judicial and legal communities. Whether Whitley’s efforts will bring about lasting change remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: the stakes for Shabazz, Mears, and the Marion County establishment couldn’t be higher.
